Forensic Science SA provides an independent pathology and scientific evidence service to the justice system and the South Australian public.
These forensic science and pathology services are across the following operational areas:
- Biology
- Examination of biological trace evidence, DNA analysis of body fluids and related materials.
- Chemistry and Materials
- Examination and analysis of physical and chemical trace evidence (such as paint, glass, firearm and explosives residues),
- analysis of illicit drugs (such as street seizures, clandestine laboratories,
- botanical identification of cannabis plants and crops),
- examination of documents and handwriting.
- Pathology
- Post mortem examination.
- Toxicology
- Analysis of blood and tissue samples for drugs and poisons.
