Combatting Serious and Organised Crime
The Government is initiating a two-part crime strategy to further protect our community from the scourge of organised crime. The first part will not focus on who a person is, but on what they do. The second part involves the appropriate repair of the Serious and Organised Crime (Control) Act 2008 (SOCCA).
The paper attached details the Government’s strategy and our proposed model to strengthen our laws to combat serious and organised crime. It is my intention to bring forward legislation, along the lines foreshadowed in this paper, to Parliament before the end of the year.
