Dispute Resolution
A significant role for the Attorney-General’s Department is helping people resolve disputes. We help consumers, employees, children formerly in State care, government service users, Indigenous people and landowners as well as the general public in certain situations.
Often complaints handled by Attorney-General's Department agencies may be resolved by helping the two parties communicate either by informal discussions or a formal conciliation process. In some cases the department may refer issues to a tribunal or facilitate group discussions.
Consumer Complaints
If you buy, hire, or lease goods and services in South Australia you are entitled to a fair deal.
OCBA can assist with complaints relating to goods and services which are advertised and purchased in South Australia and can provide useful information about your rights as a consumer. For those outside South Australia please refer to your local consumer/business affairs agency.

OCBA also provides services to tenants and landlords/agents of residential properties and proprietors and residents of rooming houses in South Australia.
Discrimination
Most people at sometime in their life will feel they have been treated unfairly. Unfair treatment based on a person's race, pregnancy, age, sex, sexuality, marital status or disability can be against the law.
The Office of the Equal Opportunity Commissioner can help anyone who feels they have been treated unfairly or discriminated against on any of these grounds or sexually harassed. They can also explain what you can do to resolve the issue.
Government Complaints
The South Australian Ombudsman can assist with any complaint about the administrative actions of a State government agency or authority, local government council, and review government agencies’ decisions about Freedom of Information.
Liquor and Gambling Licensing Complaints
The Office of the Liquor and Gambling Commissioner receives and investigates complaints against Licensed premises or Licensees, and where necessary issues a warning or instigates disciplinary action.
