Trusteeship and Financial Administration for Aged and Infirm Persons
Public Trustee assumes special responsibilities for people who are unable to handle their own financial or legal affairs due to accident, disease, age, illness or disability.
The supreme court may appoint Public Trustee as manager under the provisions of the Aged and Infirm Persons Property Act, or as trustee under the Public Trustee Act.
The Public Trustee then manages the person's financial affairs, consulting with family and the person to ensure available funds and resources are used to maintain the well being and lifestyle of the person.
Estate Services and Trusts
The Estate Services Branch manages deceased estates for people who have made a Will nominating Public Trustee as their executor or coexecutor.
Public Trustee currently holds more than 130 000 Wills representing a substantial portion of all Wills made in South Australia.
Administering deceased estates is a highly specialised activity requiring a comprehensive knowledge of the legal and financial issues involved.
Many clients choose Public Trustee for the impartiality that an independent executor can offer, particularly where there is a likelihood of family conflict over inheritance.
At such a traumatic time, when friends and family are grieving, Estate Services staff carry out their important role with empathy, tact and professionalism.
A trust secures your assets so that children, other dependents, named beneficiaries or organisation(s) can benefit from them in the future. Anyone in South Australia can request the services of the Public Trustee to act as trustee.
Taxation Services and Funds Management Service
The Taxation Services Branch provides an experienced taxation service for both internal clients and the general public.
Since 1881, Public Trustee has held monies in trust for its clients and has had the responsibility to invest that money for the benefit of those clients.
Public Trustee offers clients a choice of five standard investment strategies across seven Public Trustee Sector Common Funds. These include Cash, Capital Stable, Balanced, Growth and Equities.
