Gambling Regulation

The Liquor and Gambling Commissioner is responsible for the administration of the Gaming Machines Act 1992. The Commissioner is responsible for regulating and monitoring the gaming industry to ensure the interests of patrons, the industry, the community and the Government are protected.

The Commissioner is responsible for various functions including:

  • Determination of all applications for licences under the Act.
  • Collection of gaming tax.
  • Inspection, monitoring and scrutiny of gaming operations and approval of aspects of operations.
  • Disciplinary action against licensees.
  • Review of barring of persons by licensees.

Casino Administration

The Liquor and Gambling Commissioner is responsible for administering the Casino Act 1997. The object of this Act is to regulate the licensing and operation of the Sky City Adelaide Casino.

Wagering Services Administration

The Liquor and Gambling Commissioner is responsible for the scrutiny of the TAB, on-course totalizators and bookmaker betting operations and the licensing of bookmakers and agents in South Australia.
