Government Services

A significant proportion of the work of the Attorney-General's Department involves providing services to the rest of Government.

These services relate to work that requires knowledge of the law or the criminal justice system.

Crime Statistics

The South Australian Office of Crime Statistics and Research (OCSAR) is responsible for research, into and the monitoring of, crime trends and the criminal justice system within the State. They also provide South Australian crime statistics to government.

Crown Solicitor's Office

The Crown Solicitor's Office and the Solicitor-General provides legal services to the South Australian Government.

Forensic Science SA

Forensic Science SA provides services to South Australia Police and the Coroner. They also undertake alcohol and drug testing for the Minister of Transport.

Children in State Care and Children on the APY Lands Commission of Inquiry

Children in State Care Commission is a parliamentary inquiry. The Commission will inquire into allegations of sexual abuse of children who were in State care. It will also inquire into allegations of criminal misconduct that resulted in the death of a child in State care and report on whether records were destroyed appropriately. The Children on the APY Lands Inquiry will examine allegations sexual abuse of children on the APY Lands, assess and report on the nature and extent of sexual abuse, identify and report the consequences of sexual abuse on the APY Lands and report on any measures that should be implemented to prevent sexual abuse of children on the APY Lands.

Parliamentary Counsel

The Office of Parliamentary Counsel provides drafting services to Government and Parliament.
