Justice of the Peace Services
Justice of the Peace Services delivers a range of services to the South Australian community. The service:
- Manages the application and appointment of Justices of the Peace (JPs).
- Offers advice about how to become a JP. To obtain an application form contact the service, see details below.
- Provides a JP Volunteer Service from a city centre location.
- Helps you find a JP in your area.
- Confirms whether a person is a JP and provides JP Identification Numbers.
- Provides advice and support to JPs about their role and functions.
The new Justices of the Peace Act 2005 and Justices of the Peace Regulations 2006, which came into operation on 1 July 2006, govern the appointment of JPs . Applications and appointments of JPs are now made under the new Act and appointments are made for terms of up to 10 years.
