The State Government is seeking applications for the role of Director, Forensic Science South Australia (FSSA) within the Attorney-General's Department (AGD). FSSA is highly regarded nationally and internationally for the quality of its casework and research endeavours.

About the role

The Director, FSSA will implement strategies and operational practices that provide high quality scientific and forensic services and foster the development and application of innovative and contemporary scientific research, methods and processes.

The Director consults and works with state, national and international forensic science practitioners and academic experts, provides expertise and detailed information and advice to the Minister and the AGD Chief Executive, and is a member of the AGD Executive Management Group.


Applicants for the role of Director will have:

  • tertiary qualifications in a related science field
  • extensive experience leading in a forensic service delivery organisation
  • demonstrated experience as a successful leader, acumen in business planning, and comprehensive analytical skills
  • the ability to evaluate strategy and apply information to drive business outcomes
  • experience in setting objectives in consultation with senior managers and key stakeholders
  • skills to determine business/organisational strategies to drive business performance
  • high-level knowledge and experience in strategic project management, and policy development processes and practices.
