Today the South Australian Government announced that Queensland-based child protection expert Cathy Taylor has been appointed as Chief Executive of the new Department for Child Protection.
Cathy Taylor has previously held a number of senior positions within the Queensland child protection system and is currently the Deputy Director General of Queensland’s Department of Communities, Child Safety and Disability Services.
She won the five year Chief Executive role through an international recruitment process, and will commence on 31 October this year.
The appointment is a significant milestone in the establishment of a separate Department for Child Protection, as recommended in the Child Protection Systems Royal Commission Report, The life they deserve.
