Legal change to prevent hardship to motorists

10 July 2012

Legislation will be introduced to State Parliament this week to prevent a repeat of the inconvenience and, in some cases, hardship suffered by motorists as a result of administrative delays in the issuing of licence disqualification notices.

Attorney-General John Rau said the delay in issuing 8000 notices of disqualification to motorists – announced by the Government last year –had led the Courts Administration Authority (CAA) to investigate its systems to find out whether other motorists had been affected.
