Judicial Conduct Commissioner (Miscellaneous) Amendment Bill 2018

Status: passed Parliament

This Bill amends the Judicial Conduct Commissioner Act 2015. Under the changes, the commissioner will be able to investigate matters when new evidence comes to light. The commissioner can also dismiss complaints without a formal preliminary examination – ensuring resources can be directed to complaints that require formal consideration and investigation.

The changes also give the commissioner broader discretion when disclosing the identity of a complainant.
