War and the Law

Magistrate David White will speak about international law governing the conduct of military operations; the challenges in the application of those laws in counter-insurgency and counter-terrorism operations; and share some of his experiences and observations of the Iraq and Afghanistan conflicts.

He was a Lieutenant-Colonel in the Australian Army and served in Iraq as the Chief of Coalition Operations Law and as the Legal Officer for the Australian Special Forces contingent in Afghanistan.

The following seminar which is open to all South Australian legal practitioners. Attendance may count towards Mandatory Continuing Professional Development requirements.
