Nominations are now open for the 2024 Premier’s NAIDOC Award. The Award recognises the outstanding achievements and service of an extraordinary Aboriginal South Australian who has made a significant contribution to the lives of Aboriginal people in South Australia.

The award recipient will be announced this July during NAIDOC Week, observed across Australia each year to celebrate the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal people.

Nominees must be:

  • An Aboriginal South Australian resident
  • over the age of 18 years
  • nominated by someone else
  • someone who has made a significant contribution to the lives of Aboriginal people in South Australia.

Dr Alice Rigney Prize

Alongside the Premier’s NAIDOC Award is the Dr Alice Rigney Prize which recognises a young Aboriginal person who is dedicated to their studies.

Each year, a school is approached to nominate a student in Year 10, 11 or 12 to receive the prize. (The school changes from year to year.)
