How we recruit

The IWORKFORSA website describes our recruitment processes, and the career pathways that are also offered to:

  • Trainees
  • Graduates
  • People with a disability
  • Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island people.

AGD is an equal opportunity employer, meaning we value and embrace diversity, and employment is offered regardless of:

  • age
  • sex
  • gender identity
  • sexual orientation
  • intersex status
  • race
  • disability
  • marital or domestic partnership status
  • identity of spouse or domestic partner
  • pregnancy
  • association with child
  • caring responsibilities
  • religious appearance or dress.

We welcome employees who are living with a disability. Different views and life experiences mean our staff are as diverse as the people who use our services.

If anything on this website is difficult to access, you can contact us for assistance.

We are also committed to making reasonable adjustments to provide a positive, barrier-free recruitment process and supportive workplace.

If you have any support or access requirements, we encourage you to advise us when making an application.

Information about our vacancies can also be accessed in alternative formats upon request.

View our Disability Access and Inclusion Plan or find out more about disability employment in the public sector.

We strongly encourage First Nations people to apply for positions with us.

We are focused on increasing Aboriginal employment across the department. We are also keen to offer people the chance to progress their careers into more senior roles. See our AGD Aboriginal Employment Framework.

You can register your interest on the SA Public Sector Aboriginal Employment Register.

Employment opportunities available at our department include:

  • traineeships across a range of areas
  • cadetships
  • summer clerkships for law students
  • graduate solicitor and paralegal employment pool
  • practical legal training for students.

Indigenous cadetships

The Crown Solicitor’s Office can support First Nations law students through cadetships while they study law.

The cadetship includes:

  • 60 days of paid employment
  • mentorship
  • support for each year of full-time study.

Students can still access study assistance through Abstudy or Indigenous Cadetship Support.

Cadets employed through Indigenous Cadetship Support can also access a yearly support payment to help meet the costs of textbooks and related materials.

Email CSO-BusinessServices@sa.gov.au to find out more about cadetships.

Power Cup

Each year, we aim to employ a high school graduate who has participated in the Power Cup.

We offer traineeships across various areas of the department.

For graduates who have finished a traineeship and would like to study law, we can support them through a Bachelor of Law by way of a cadetship. Then continue the support into a paralegal role and ongoing legal role.
